A month long internal audit at PC maker Dell
carried out by its internal audit committee has found a number of accounting
errors and evidence of misconduct following a review of previous earnings
statements.
In a statement the company said the internal audit had ‘identified a number
of accounting errors, evidence of misconduct, and deficiencies in the financial
control environment’.
The company also announced that it would miss the 18 April deadline to file
its annual report to the Securities and Exchange
Commission – this has been delayed until the internal review is completed.
The company did not say how much longer the internal investigation would
last.
