PKF will examine the level of informamtion provided in the corporation’s annual report and accounts as well as how far the reporting meets the needs of the royal charter under which the BBC operates.
Culture secretary Chris Smith made the announcement today that the top ten firm would spearhead government initiatives to introduce independent scrutiny of the corporation’s finances.
The BBC’s Annual Report and Accounts was published on 21 June and PKF will undertake a review of the document with a view to making the results public by the end of July.
Responding to a parliamentary question Chris Smith, the Culture Secretary said: ‘The review will commence immediately and will be concluded by the end of July.’I will publish Pannell Kerr Foster’s findings.’
