The Financial Week Ahead - Newswatch: Anite on acquisition drive.

The $72m purchase of Datavance is the latest European move by the group who, last December, formally committed itself to e-commerce as its central interest with the launch of its strategy, @com.

As well as providing e-commerce solutions for the travel industry, Anite offers services and software to the oil and gas industry. Clients include Nokia, Esso and Royal Dutch/Shell.

Subsidiary Anite Travel Systems also struck a strategic partnership in March with leading UK tour operator first Choice Holidays to provide websites for its travel brands.

Analysts believe the group, who announced the placing of new shares at 138.5p to raise £12m last month, is due for a pre-tax profit of around £11.9m.

Finance director Simon Hunt now wants the group to look for further acquisitions in Spain, Italy and the Nordic countries and to build within the banking and telecoms sector.

Hunt, who was a partner for 11 years at KPMG, worked as finance director at the ACT Group before his move to the Anite Group in 1996. Anite is continuing to build up its European presence of its internet and e-commerce consultants continues.

Anite’s UK headquarters are in Slough, Berkshire. It also has offices in Bristol, Fleet, Glasgow, Manchester, Milton Keynes and London.

It is audited by Arthur Andersen.
