de Groot leaves Audit Commission for Treasury's Public Services Directorate

Lucy de Groot, currently working with the Audit Commission, has been appointed Deputy Director in the Treasury's Public Services Directorate on a salary of between £61,000 and £98,000 on an initial three-year contract.

The 48-year-old was formerly Chief Executive of Bristol City Council before taking a post on a temporary basis with the Audit Commission’s new Best Value Inspectorate.

A graduate of Oxford University and the London School of Economics, she will be focussing on the Comprehensive Spending Review for the years 2001 to 2004. She will manage the teams dealing with education, housing, urban policy and social exclusion, transport, culture, rural and agriculture policy, the environment, defence and foriegn affairs.
