CIoT takes a green view of tax
The Chartered Institute of Taxation has published a
new
report into environmental and green taxes.
With pressure groups leaning on government’s harder than ever to introduce
climate change policy, the report looks at the role tax will play in the green
agenda.
‘The question then becomes “in what way will tax be deployed in achieving
these environmental goals?” Will taxes be used creatively as agents to modify
and change behaviour, or imposed in a blunt manner to penalise ‘bad’
environmental practices, possibly using the revenue to reward the
environmentally good?,’ said CIoT president Nick Goulding.
