Deloitte: private equity back next year
Buyer and seller expectations to converge
Deloitte is forecasting a resurgence in private equity deal activity next
year.
In a recent survey of private equity professionals, 54% said buyer and seller
price expectations would converge in the next six to 12 months.
Deloitte partner Manish Shah said the findings run counter to a number of
commentators who do not expect deal activity to return for at least another 18
months.
He says that when deals return, the amount of debt used will be down by as
much as a third, and that corporates will be unlikely to swallow each other
outright – instead opting to co-invest.
