DTI dismisses rumours on liability legislation

Officials at the DTI (right) have scotched rumours that an announcement on UK reform of limited liability partnership legislation is imminent.

The DTI denied any planned reform must be revealed within the next week to allow it space on the legislative timetable. A DTI spokesman said: ‘It is a matter we have been considering for some time and we will make an announcement in due course. But it does not need to be within any given timescale to enable its enactment because the Queen’s Speech allows for the Government to introduce any legislation it sees fit.’ KPMG’s head of audit, Gerry Acher, said: ‘We are not aware of any developments, but half of us are expecting an announcement before the end of September.

Others are not so sure.’
