David Buchler takes up R3 presidency
David Buchler, chairman of Kroll Buchler Phillips and vice-chairman of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club was last night appointed president of R3, the association of business recovery professionals.
The appointment was announced at R3’s annual general meeting.
Last year, Buchler served as vice-president of the association – this year he replaces Roger Oldfield of KPMG. Former deputy vice-president John Verrill, head of corporate recovery at city law firm Lawrence Graham, will become vice president.
Speaking after his appointment, Buchler said understanding the role of business recovery professionals was fundamental to improving the UK’s rescue culture.
He added that he would aim to ‘ensure government and business recognise the full range of skills that [R3’s] members can bring to bear to rescue and reconstruct businesses at any stage of financial crisis.
‘I hope that during my presidency we will make people more aware of the successes that our profession can achieve when ailing businesses are prepared to seek assistance early.’
