The Serious Fraud Office has moved to block Ernest Saunders’ bid to clear his name. The former chairman of Guinness was convicted of fraud after a #2.6bn takeover for rival drinks company Distillers. The Criminal Cases Review Commission referred his case and that of three others to the Court of Appeals earlier this year. The SFO said the CCRC acted outside its jurisdiction and seeks permission from the High Court to challenge the decision.
