Minister hails 'massive' carousel fraud drop

Primarolo stops short of declaring total victory at Lords committee meeting

The UK is witnessing ‘an absolutely massive drop’ in attempted fraud,
according to paymaster general

Primarolo.

Though stopping short of declaring victory, Primarolo told a Lords select
committee that the government’s freeze on payments and registrations had been
highly effective, the FT reports

The fraud is estimated to have cost £2bn-£3bn last year according to most
recent estimates.
