Pop group calls for probe into firm
British pop group Suede has sacked its accountancy firm, FR Dixon & Co, over concerns about financial irregularities.
FR Dixon & Co, a London-based firm of chartered accountants would not comment. The firm has managed the group’s accounts since 1992.
Interceptor Enterprises, Suede’s management company since 1993, said FR Dixon’s assets have been frozen until the company’s investigation has been completed.
Bennie Brongers, a partner at Interceptor, confirmed the company had obtained a court order to seize Suede’s accounts for the past eight years from the small firm after Dixon’s FD refused to co-operate. ‘We are currently sifting through the accounts,’ said a spokesman.
Suede, formed in 1989, were described by Melody Maker as ‘the best new band in Britain.’
