Government tackles car tax evaders
As part of a new drive to tackle car crime and reduce vehicle dumping the government has launched a campaign targeting car tax evaders.

Launched today by transport minister David Jamieson, the campaign includes a hotline, which will enable Londoners (and eventually the whole of the country) to report vehicles seen on the road without a valid tax disc.
According to the government, there are one million unlicensed vehicles on the road today, many of which are uninsured and sometimes involved in criminal activity.
The cost of uninsured driving is estimated at £500m, adding an additional £30 to the honest motorist’s annual insurance premium, the government claimed.
