More than 37% of Britain’s SMEs are using the internet to purchase goods and services, according to a study by is4profit.com. Most likely goods to be purchased online by SMEs are insurance, IT hardware, software and travel. However the research showed virtually no acceptance of electronic market places or e-procurement sites by SME sector. Managing director of is4profit.com said ‘Use of the internet to aid procurement has not been driven by the need to deliver process efficiencies.’
