Accounting software group has grown to 1,400 employees

Software accounting giant Sage has
decided to go ahead with plans to expand its Newcastle headquarters after staff
numbers reached 1,400.

The company is to commence building the second phase of its Newcastle Great
Park building, less than three years after moving in.

During that time it has occupied the building, staff numbers have grown by
400.

Chief executive Paul
Walker
said: ‘We will continue to expand the Newcastle operation – the
premises and the people.

‘The design of North Park [the building] was designed to allow us to expand
in due course. It will be in the next couple of years. The building is only two
