Small business given equity advice
The government wants small businesses to be better prepared to attract investment.
The call came at this week’s launch of a consultation document called Investment readiness: helping enterprises access equity finance for growth.
The government’s Small Business Service is to role out a network of venture capital funds and series of pilot initiatives this summer to make small businesses ‘more investment ready’.
According to the government, the amount of investment finance, in terms of early-stage risk capital, has grown as a result of reforms to capital gains tax, the enterprise investment scheme and venture capital trusts.
SBS chief executive David Irwin said small firms need a better understanding of how to secure and manage investments.
