    AstraZeneca finance chief joins ASB

    UK standards setter, the Accounting Standards Board, has appointed Jonathan Symonds as its newest member.

    Link: ASB to persuade insurers on new accounting regime

    Symonds is chief financial officer at pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, a position he has held since 1997.

    He will be a member of the ASB until 31 October 2006, Sir Bryan Nicholson, chairman of the Financial Reporting Council, announced yesterday.

    Symonds other roles include being non-executive chairman at Qinetiq and joint chairman of the Business Tax Forum. He is also due to become chairman of the 100 Group of Finance Directors in November.
