BBC finance chief waives bonus

Zarin Patel takes a stand alongside other BBC executives

Zarin
Patel
, the KPMG-trained finance director at the BBC, has joined other top
BBC executives, including
Mark
Thompson, the director general
, by waiving her bonus this year.

According to reports, the broadcaster’s annual report, due to be published on
3 July, will reveal executives have turned down around £350,000 worth of
incentive payments.

The decision to waive the payments awarded by the BBC executive board
remuneration committee was taken in light of the lower-than-expected licence
fee.

They have also failed to hit some commitments they made on ensuring more
ethnic minority staff work at the BBC.
