Zarin Patel takes a stand alongside other BBC executives
Zarin
Patel, the KPMG-trained finance director at the BBC, has joined other top
BBC executives, including
Mark
Thompson, the director general, by waiving her bonus this year.
According to reports, the broadcaster’s annual report, due to be published on
3 July, will reveal executives have turned down around £350,000 worth of
incentive payments.
The decision to waive the payments awarded by the BBC executive board
remuneration committee was taken in light of the lower-than-expected licence
fee.
They have also failed to hit some commitments they made on ensuring more
ethnic minority staff work at the BBC.
