Ongoing investigation into MG Rover costs taxpayer £12m - and is still running
The long-running investigation into collapsed car giant MG Rover has so far
cost £12.2m.
The inquiry hit the figure in April, and includes £437,000 in disbursements.
The Department of Business refused to reveal how much of the disbursements
related to expenses and other costs for the investigation team, led by Guy Newey
QC and BDO Stoy Hayward’s Gervase MacGregor.
‘My real concern now is not just that it is taking so long – but that there
is an absolute silence on why it is taking so long,’ said Labour MP Richard
Burden.
An official for the department said the investigation was being concluded as
quickly and thoroughly as possible.
