The Inland Revenue has taken advantage of the quiet holiday period to redesign its website.
Despite the new more stylish look, the website’s content appears largely unchanged, although users can now be guided through a series of ‘gateways’ depending on their background and needs.
And Hector fans will be glad to know the diminutive fellow has now made it on to the front page to promote the Revenue’s much criticised e-filing project.
Last week e-filing was suspended for four days while essential maintenance was carried out to the service. The closure prompted criticism from ACCA head of tax Chas Roy-Chowdhury who told the Financial Times that the Revenue had been over-ambitious in its timetable for the service.
‘They have put a product on the market that wasn’t ready to do the job it was supposed to do,’ he said.
The Revenue claims that the service will be operational again today.
