Brown to face grilling over forecasts
Members of the influential Treasury select committee are this week gearing up to grill the chancellor over what they believe are unrealistic economic forecasts ahead of next year's general election.

Following his pre-Budget report on 2 December, Gordon Brown has faced criticism from City economists who say the chancellor has taken an overly optimistic view of the economy to avoid breaching his golden rule.
On Thursday when he appears before the cross-party Treasury select committee, Tory members, led by Sevenoaks MP Michael Fallon, will ask Brown to make his calculations public or jeopardise his credibility, according to The Observer.
