Midlands-based aluminum die casting company hit by downturn
Metal Castings Limited, a Midlands-based aluminum die casting company, has
appointed Ian Best and David Duggins of Ernst & Young as joint
administrators.
Best and Duggins were called in to run the Worcester-based company, which
employs 235 people, after increasing raw material costs, and the loss of several
key contracts increased pressure on the company, already struggling under the
weight of the current downturn in the automotive market.
Metal Castings specialises in the production of high-pressure die-castings
for the automotive industry and domestic appliance manufacturers.
Joint administrator Ian Best said the company has a strong reputation in the
market.
’We are in the process of contacting the key customers and suppliers with a view
to trading the business as a going concern while a buyer is sought,’ he said.
