In the first meeting of its kind, representatives from bodies including the ICAEW’s IT Faculty discussed ways they could work together and share resources with each other.

The meeting, held last Wednesday in Andersen’s Surrey Street offices, was attended by representatives from three of the Big Five and six professional IT bodies.

John Oates, chairman of the technical committee of the IT Faculty, said: ‘Informal discussions have taken place and announcements are likely next month.’

If the bodies can reach agreement, it would allow them to ensure the UK takes a lead in developing IT audit standards.
