The firm has been reported to have drafted in established public relations expert Lynn Shepherd as an associate at the practice just six months after she joined internet search engine Yahoo! as head of its European corporate communications.
PwC is expected to launch its Strategic Communications Management unit in September but is reported to have brought in Shepherd to work alongside European practice leader Claire Fargeot to roll-out the service internally over the summer.
Fargeot, who was previously a financial analyst with HSBC in the City, joined PwC to help set up the unit in November 1998.
The unit is expected to mix financial public relations with other aspects of strategic consultancy. It is also thought to be gearing up to offer post-initial public offering work including bid defences, crisis and issues management.
A spokesman for the firm said: ‘Nothing has been finalised.’
