CIPFA members vote on merger

CIPFA members vote after remarkably brief special general meeting

The CIPFA special general meeting called to give members the opportunity to
vote on the merger with the ICAEW has concluded – after a 15 minute debate and
the raising of three questions.

About 40-50 CIPFA members attended the meeting at the Library of the
Guildhall in the City, and officials are now counting the votes, with a ‘yes’
result confidently expected among its members.

Questions from the floor concerned the name of the proposed new institute,
the benefits of merger to members, and the affect of a merger on part-time
members’ subscriptions.

The ICAEW special general meeting is currently being held at Chartered
Accountants Hall in Moregate place, and a result of the votes is expected very
shortly.
