Football kit maker makes FD transfer, appointing Gary Brown to head up its financial operations from November
Umbro has announced
Gary
Brown will be its new CFO.
Brown has more than ten years experience in the retail sector and 17 years
working in the finance function. He has spent the last four years as FD at
Instore Plc, which operates a countrywide network of retail outlets, under both
the Instore and the Poundstretcher brands.
After qualifying as an accountant with Mitchell Charlesworth. Brown held
various positions at Matalan and Sainsbury PLC and Wincanton Logistics.
Chief executive Steve Makin who vacated the
Umbro
CFO berth to take the top spot in June said: ‘I am delighted that Gary will
be joining us as CFO. He has an impressive and extensive track record in the
retail sector, a diverse background in the finance and commercial functions and
a strong reputation. We have a strong team in place going forward and as the
business grows I expect to build on this where required.’
Brown starts his role in November 2007.
