Equitable looks to settle E&Y case

Embattled life assurance firm, Equitable Life, is looking to settle its multi-billion pound claim with Big Four firm Ernst & Young, according to The Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed Equitable would be willing to settle its claims against both its former auditors and former directors for between £200m and £400m.

It falls far short of the £2.1bn claim against E&Y and £1.7bn claim against the former directors. ‘We would consider any serious offer that is proposed,’ Equitable said.
