Jon Thorne, a chartered accountant, has been at the commission since 1992, where he has provided financial advisory services and was recently seconded for six-months to Oxfam.
His appointment, to take charge of improving the standards of financial management and reporting at the commission, is the final part of restructuring of the operations directorate at the Charity Commission.
Director of operations Simon Gillespie said: ‘I am delighted that Jon has taken on the challenge of heading up Financial Regulation within the Commission. We have been working closely with charities, umbrella bodies and others to improveaccountability. This appointment provides a further opportunity to reinforce that engagement.’
