Boeing said CFO and executive vice president Mike Sears had been dismissed with immediate effect for ‘violating company policies by communicating directly and indirectly with Druyun about future employment when she had not disqualified herself from acting in her official government capacity on matters involving Boeing’.

The company has also dismissed Druyan, who was vice president and deputy general manager of Missile Defense Systems, and said that both Sears and Druyun were found in an internal review to have tried to conceal their misconduct.

Chairman and CEO Phil Condit said: ‘Upon review of the facts, our board of directors determined that immediate dismissal of both individuals for cause was the appropriate course of action.’

Boeing’s senior vice president of finance and corporate controller James Bell will become acting CFO.
