Budget07: Capital expenditure to rocket

Spending to rise over next five years says chancellor

Capital expenditure will rise from £48bn to £60bn over the next five years,
Gordon Brown said in his Budget speech today.

He also said total government expenditure would increase by £34bn this year
and would rise to £674bn by 2010.
