PA Consulting launches e-procurement service available to the whole of the public sector
A new e-procurement system for the whole of the UK public sector has been
launched today, in a bid to drive down purchasing costs to meet efficiency
guidelines.
Called Zanzibar, the web portal managed by PA Consulting’s new subsidiary PA
Shared Services, has already been subscribed to by the Department for Work and
Pensions.
It enables public sector buyers and private suppliers to be linked up via the
internet.
Bruce Tindale, PA Consulting CEO, said the service was a ‘vital part’ of the
government’s strategy to deliver increased procurement efficiencies to meet
savings identified in the Gershon Review.
PA has worked in a consortium with Elcom Systems, IMPAQ Business Solutions
and @UK PLC to provide the service. In addition, Serco will be working in a
strategic alliance with the consortium.
