Inquiry into draft public audit Bill Wales

The House of Commons Welsh Affairs Committee is to conduct an inquiry into the draft Audit (Wales) Bill.

The draft Bill, among other things, proposes to bring together the functions of the Auditor General in Wales and most of the functions of the Audit Commission for Wales into a single audit body which will be known as the Wales Audit Office.

The Auditor General for Wales would head the new body, which would be responsible for the financial audit and value for money audit of

  • The National Assembly for Wales and its sponsored bodies
  • Health bodies in Wales, including NHS trust and Local Health Boards
  • Local government bodies in Wales
