Melbourne accountant lived the life of a movie star
Charismatic Australian businessman and trained accountant Maurice Roussety,
45 has been jailed after pleading guilty to one the state of Victoria’s biggest
frauds.
Roussety pleaded guilty to 49 charges of fraud that yielded him a total of
$18.3m (£7.5m) when he appeared in court last week. He was remanded in custody
to appear for a sentencing hearing on 29 March. Roussety was found to have
ripped off millions of dollars from clients, including the pension funds of
several retirees.
According to reports, Roussety wore Armani suits, drove a Mercedes-Benz CL
500 coupe, which he bought months before going bankrupt, and dined at fine city
restaurants.
Roussety enjoyed long lunches with wines and champagne, with Crayfish his
