MPs attack self-assessment forms, as deadline looms

Tory MPs say forms are too complex for accurate completion

A new attack on the complexity of income tax self-assessment forms has been
launched in the Commons just three weeks before the deadline for their
completion.

Tory MPs Daniel Kawcynski and Bob Spink have put down a motion complaining
that ‘the time and sometimes fees involved in completing such forms is
prohibitive to their accurate completion’ and that their complicated format
‘highlights the over-complicated taxation system in the UK’.

The MPs call on the Treasury ‘to simplify and streamline the UK taxation
system’.
