The Inland Revenue has revealed that Adam Hart-Davis, the scientist presenter of the BBC's Tomorrow's World will promote its online self-assessment tax site for the next three years.
The announcement was made today, after a decision was taken earlier this year to replace Mrs Doyle, the endearing tea lady from Father Ted, who has promoted the website since July last year.
According to the Revenue, Hart-Davis was chosen because he ‘appealed to a majority of people’.
Hart-Davis presents Tomorrow’s World at 7pm on Wednesday nights on BBC 1 and has also presented Local Heroes.
He is also author of Thunder, Flush and Thomas Crapper a work he calls a ‘lavatorial extravaganza’.
