England football captain David Beckham is scheduled to make his big screen debut in a movie which will win tax breaks through the enterprise investment scheme.
According to The Sun Beckham will appear as an assassin in the gangster-heist flick Red Light Runners, which stars Reservoir Dog’s Michael Madsen, as well as Martin Kemp and DJ Sarah Cox.
The EIS company Red Light Runners plc has until 17 July to raise £2m from investors, and £8m in total by 15 August.
Under the initiative, investors buy shares in the company, effectively financing it, and the shares can then sold at a later date without having to pay any capital gains tax.
Overseeing the finances are mid-tier firm Baker Tilly, who has given the film’s budget the thumbs-up.
The EIS scheme has proved extremely popular, with many films including spy drama Enigma, which starred Kate Winslet, financed in this manner.
