PBR05: Economic growth at 1.75%
Chancellor Gordon Brown has downgraded his predicted economic growth figure for 2005 to just 1.75%
In March the government predicted that growth would be in the region of three
and 3.5%, but these figures have been reduced significantly after what Brown
termed his ‘toughest and most challenging year for the economy’.
He added that despite the tough conditions, the country still recorded its
34th consecutive quarter of economic growth.
