Budget deficit to be halved over four years
Chancellor Alistair Darling say the pre Budget report would be about
promoting growth.
“There’s still much uncertainty,” he said. He added the PBR was to “ensure
the recovery.”
He said this would come through promoting carbon industries and improving
employment for the young.
Darling said he would be laying the foundations for halving the budget
deficit by half over four years.
