Nish tipped as next Standard Life chief

New FD mentioned as successor to Sandy Crombie, less than 24 hours after formally taking the job

Life
, is being tipped as a potential successor to Sandy Crombie at the
Scottish life assurer, less than 24 hours after the announcement of his
appointment.

Nish is an experienced FD, having spent 6 years at the helm of Scottish
Power’s finance function.

The
FT
said today that Nish would be a contender for the chief executive role at
the group. Crombie has said he is unlikely to step down until 2009.

The group is announcing third quarter results next week. Nish is not expected
to be presenting the results to analysts and investors, however, given he has
onlt just been appointed.
