Institute merger announcement due next week

The three accountancy bodies involved in merger discussions will make an announcement next week about their 'preliminary consolidation talks'.

Accountancy Age broke the news in July that the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants (CIPFA), and the ICAEW were in discussions over a merger of the three bodies.

The presidents and chief executives of the three institutes will make an announcement at a press conference next week Tuesday in the City.

A poll conducted by AccountancyAge.com in August found that members were split on the merger.
