Ex-Logica boss to look at public sector IT projects

Martin read to review government's IT investment

Logica’s former chief executive will lead a review into the public sector’s
£13bn annual spend on IT.

Martin Read, who left Logica in 2007, will review how the public sector
invests in IT in an attempt to improve its record of delivering major IT
projects.

Yvette Cooper, chief secretary to the Treasury, appointed Read, reports the
FT.

She said that problems with public sector IT projects happened too often.

Major IT projects can be a headache in both the private and the public
sector. However IT has also delivered substantial savings and improvements,’
said Cooper.
