Process of appointing non-executives criticised
UK companies do not spend enough time selecting non-executive directors and, as a result, their boards do not work properly, a new book on corporate governance has claimed. In Winning Ways through Corporate Governance, co-written by Coats Viyella chief executive Neville Bain and David Band, head of Leeds Business School, the authors call on the Institute of Directors to set up a database of suitably qualified individuals who meet all the criteria agreed by shareholder bodies and institutional investors.
