Trinity Mirror FD loses job before it begins
In what must be the shortest career ever recorded, the newly appointed finance director of Trinity Mirror has been ousted before he even started.

Ric Piper, the former finance director at WS Atkins, was due to start yesterday but was told not to bother after a shock profits warning at the engineering consultancy sent its share price crashing by 72%.
Many of the problems at Atkins were down to poor financial control including the disastrous introduction of a new computer system which resulted in Piper being late in invoicing £25m of work.
He was due to receive a salary of about £300,000 which many believe will be paid out to Piper in compensation.
