Firm appointed for three more years after high-profile contract goes out to tender

The BBC has reappointed KPMG as its auditors.

The broadcasting corporation had put the contract out to tender, sources
said.

The BBC told Accountancy Age today: ‘We recently appointed KPMG as
auditors for a three year period, following a formal tender process. This is
subject to approval by the BBC Trust and the Secretary of State.’

The
BBC’s
2007 accounts
show that the firm made £2.3m from the audit last year,
earning £1m for the audit of the annual accounts themselves.
