Computer Associates has announced an intuitive multimedia interface for its CA-Masterpiece financial software system. The interface is designed to improve productivity, and uses technology from its Jasmine object database.
The object technology will be used to build intuitive multimedia representations of complex real world activities and data. CA said the development reflected the take-up of multimedia, electronic commerce and the Internet in the financial community.
The Electronics and Information Industries Forum, an initiative between the electronics industry and the Computer Services Association, has been launched to tackle three key issues affecting the IT industry: the private finance initiative, the millennium dating issue and the need for the UK to become a leading information society. The EIIF’s first joint positioning paper, on PFI, looks at the IT/IS industry where over #3bn of PFI projects are currently under consideration.
KPMG has warned UK companies to start planning for European Monetary Union, regardless of whether the UK eventually joins the system. KPMG director Malcolm Stirling said that adopting a ‘wait and see’ approach was not an option. Sections of IT systems needed to change even if EMU went ahead without the UK.
