Amber Valley top of the audit teams

An internal audit team at Amber Valley Borough Council in Derbyshire has been named as CIPFA's best audit outfit for 2000.

The so called Cliff Nicholson award is presented each year to the internal audit team which demonstrates new techniques, the value of the audit function, innovative research and development or significant changes brought about by audit work.

Chris Hurford, chairman of CIPFA’s audit panel, said: ‘Amber Valley Borough Council’s entry clearly demonstrated the value of internal audit work as a provider of support and external evidence.’

Entries for the award came from all areas of the public sector, local government, central government, the National Health Service and the emergency services.
