New qualification launched by AAT
A new qualification to beef up the skills of payroll staff has been launched today by the Association of Accounting Technicians.
The new NVQ/SVQ in Payroll Administration is designed to ensure those working on payroll develop their skills and ‘gurantee competence’.
Margaret Rawding, president at AAT, said: ‘The NVQ/SVQ has been developed to meet the needs of both employers and staff working on payroll. Great demands are being placed on payroll teams and the AAT’s qualification has been developed to help them meet these challenges.’
Demands on payroll workers have increased over recent years with expectations that they now handle maternity pay, sickness administration, student loan payments, benefit packages and monitoring attendance.’
The new qualification has been developed among 15 organisation including Post Office Counters, Liverpool University and Several NHS trusts.
