Audit watchdog highly critical of massive regeneration project
Audit watchdog highly critical of massive regeneration project
The National Audit Office has delivered
stinging criticism of the Thames
Gateway, the biggest regeneration project in Western Europe.
In a report, the public audit watchdog said the Thames Gateway, lacked a
strategic plan, a proper budget and a marketing strategy.
According to the report, the project is behind target and its aspirations to
create high-quality, low-carbon- footprint housing and business developments
have not been translated into clear objectives.
The 30-year programme was announced in 1995 to reverse 150 years of decline
on the north and south banks of the
Thames estuary.
