– Sage has launched the latest version of WinForecast Professional. The package, which costs from #350, allows businesses to streamline their financial and budget planning. The launch follows customer research and feedback, WinForecast Professional aims to make the forecasting process faster.
It links to Sage Line 50, Sage Line 100 and Sage Line 200 accounting software and allows budgeting and financial planning to be done all year round rather than as a once-a-year exercise.

– The sales picture for networking giant Cisco has dramatically deteriorated after it predicted sales for the quarter ending 28 April will fall by as much as 30% from $6.75bn (#4.72bn) in the second quarter to $4.7bn (#3.3bn).
‘The environment our segment of the IT industry is facing has never been more challenging. This may be the fastest any industry our size has decelerated, requiring us to make difficult decisions,’ said chief executive John Chambers.

– PricewaterhouseCoopers believes cybercrime is spiralling out of control. The announcement by the Big Five firm followed the release of its Internet Security and Business Risks Survey, which found 64% of network internet sites have experienced security breaches. The results came as home secretary Jack Straw last week launched The National Hi-Tech Crime Unit – a specialist police unit to tackle computer-based crime.
