Alan Budd, the former chief economic adviser at the Treasury, is to take on a non-executive directorship at IG Index, the spread betting firm.
Budd, who is better known for his report into the David Blunkett visa affair, joins the group in advance of its float, expected at the end of this month.
Budd was also a member of the Bank of England’s interest rate setting Monetary Policy Committee from 1997.
