Cheers to Brian van Rooyen, the Johannesburg consultant who has successfully campaigned to expose racism in the white South African rugby establishment.
Van Rooyen’s allegations that black clubs and players are still disadvantaged has led to a government enquiry. It’s been a rough ride for the (in South African terminology) “coloured” consultant, who was told by the overbearing president of the South African Rugby Union, Louis Luyt, that he was “too stupid” to be a rugby official. The Institute of Very Small Numbers are hard at work on this one too.
